The WA SDK leverages ActiveX 2.0, allowing IQVIA to communicate with supported devices through the ClinSpark Agent. The interface does not require ActiveX interaction by way of a browser plugin, but rather uses Microsoft’s COM API.
Note: The applicable Welch Allyn Connectivity SDK and supporting documentation should be are supplied directly by the vendor, Baxter / (Welch Allyn). Baxter / Welch Allyn have has recently communicated to IQVIA that they will no longer be hosting the SDK for download so users may need to find another source. As such, the ClinSpark Agent will be packaging on their support website for download. IQVIA is also not permitted at this time to re-distribute the full contents of Connectivity SDK. However, the product team is evaluating other methods of distributing the necessary contents of the Connectivity SDK to ClinSpark users, approved by Baxter, for the purposes of the vital signs device integration with ClinSpark. A future release of the ClinSpark Agent may provide the necessary redistribution files for installation in an upcoming release. It should be noted that until this version is released Welch Allyn devices will not communicate with the ClinSpark Agent unless users have sourced and installed the SDK independentlyto meet this need.
