Ask on Order Entry (AOE)

Summary

Labs will occasionally require some information as it relates to a given order / specimen. ClinSpark can support ‘Ask on Order Entry’ AOE by way of establishing and following a convention. When an order is generated in ClinSpark, the order generation template has the ability to inspect the data as it relates to the corresponding form in ClinSpark. Study builders will simply have to add AOE items to the item group in which the order is created, and follow a convention in which the AOE question can be clearly marked.

Set-up

ClinSpark dynamically finds AOE by inspecting items associated with the containing item group. Note: this mechanism supports both free-form text entry and code list driven responses to AOE questions. In the case of the latter, the code list item’s decode value is used in the resulting lab order. For the Alias, only the ‘name’ is interrogated, and the ‘context’ has no effect.
