Session Replay
When this article was introduced in 2023, the ClinSpark team used a session replay tool called SessionStack. However we no longer implement the use of that tool across customer environments. Prior information covering use of the tool have been removed from the article.
Different session replay tooling is under evaluation for future consideration. There is not a specific timeline planned for when session replay tooling will be introduced again.
This article remains in our help site an informative piece to customers who may inquire about the topic.
What is Session Replay?
Session Replay is the ability to record user activity in an application that allows a support team to replay user sessions after the fact. This enables a support team to diagnose user and application issues far more rapidly and effectively. Session Replay enables a support team to:
Understand the full context of a user issue when a ticket is received. Support teams can review the user session around the time the issue occurred, allowing deeper insights to the reported issues and potential for rapid assistance.
Understand how to reproduce an issue, because sessions will replay what the user sees and the steps leading to reported issues.
Security Considerations
ClinSpark’s database stores sensitive clinical and subject data, including Personal Health Information (PHI). Audit records show a record of all user actions. What Session Replay adds is a visual recording of the interactions a particular user made in the ClinSpark User Interface (UI). This recording is just as sensitive as the data itself.
Because of this, Session Replay tools require certain considerations on where recordings are stored and how they are accessed.
