Occasionally, a sponsor or laboratory may provide a site with aliquot labels for use during a study; we refer to these labels as external barcodes. If external barcodes are used during a study, users can associate an external barcode with a given sample at the time of specimen aliquoting / transfering.

Sample Path Configuration

ClinSpark supports the ability for users to optionally specify that a sample transfer will require the tracking (import) of external barcodes in transfer steps, as part of sample path configuration. Under scenarios where sample path configurations are set up to handle ‘transfer of a transfer’ scenarios, external barcodes can only be configured with the last sample transfer step.

Processing Samples with External Barcodes

External barcodes must not already be in use anywhere else in the system and cannot match an existing ClinSpark barcode pattern.
