Summary
Barcodes in ClinSpark empower data collectors to stay ‘hands free’ from the computer as much as possible during a number of barcoded assessments in the data collection modules. These barcodes will assist users in this workflow:
Subject Wristbands: Navigates a user to the correct study and subject. Additionally, based on form design, optionally require users to scan the subject barcode to perform data collection.
Barcoded Containers: Scanning barcoded containers such as sample collections will automatically open the data collection window associated with the barcode. Once this window has been opened the first scan of the barcode will unlock the date/time input and store an audit that the correct barcode was scanned. Scanning the barcode a second time will set the current date/time. If a user scans the barcode again it will continue to update the date/time field to the time the barcode was scanned.
Application User Barcode: Typically these are on the user’s badge. By scanning this barcode, it will input the username for login but not the password. During data collection a user can also scan their badge to save and close the data collection window. After the data collection window is closed a user can log out of ClinSpark by scanning their badge a second time.
Device Barcode: Based on a system-configuration, users can be required to scan a device prior to initiating integrated device workflows on certain forms. Once the device barcode has been scanned, the ‘invoke device’ workflow will begin automatically.

Device Barcodes
There is a system-wide setting that customers can opt into, which will be enforced across all sites/studies, to require a device barcode scan prior to data collection.
