Sample Processing

In this section you can define various settings for the Sample Processing:

...

  • Sample Warning / Urgent Seconds - these are the timing settings that will make the clock change colour in Samples > Processing module, when the task gets into the warning window (turns from blue to orange) and then into urgent window (turns from orange to red).

  • Sample Warning / Urgent Label - you can change the label for Warning and Urgent that can then be seen in the “Priority” filtering on the Sample Processing page.

  • Enforce Container Path - if you enable this, it will allow only the Samples with the same Sample Path to be added to a Container.

  • Enforce Container Transfers - if this is enabled, you will only be able to add the Transfers (Aliquots) of the same type to a Container, for example, Primary Aliquots with Primary Aliquots, Backup Aliquots with Backup Aliquots. These settings can be overriden in Study > Configure > Sample Processing section for each Study. This can also be edited in the Samples > Configure > Study Sample Configuration section. The setting in Samples > Configure will take priority over any other settings.

  • Allow Print on Transfer - if this is set to yes, the user will have the Transfer (Aliquot) labels printed at the time of Aliquoting. If this is set to no, then the Aliquot tubes need to be pre-labelled and ready for the Aliquoting process.

Sample Tasks

In this section you can create Sample Tasks that you will then be able to use in Sample Paths in Samples > Configure.

...

Adding a Sample Task

To add a new Sample Task, you will need to click the “Add” button and fill out the following:

  • Name - enter the name of the Sample Task, as it will appear to users for selection in Samples > Configure.

  • Description - add an optional Description of what the Task entails.

  • Transfer Type - define whether this Task will be Aliquoting the tube out to several new tubes or Pooling into the tube from several different tubes.

  • Print Barcode on Batch Creation? - in case the Task is a Batch Step, the user will be able to print a Batch Label to process the whole Batch of Samples together.

...

Editing a Sample Task

To edit a Sample Task, you will need to click on the Action menu and select “Edit”.

Deleting a Sample Task

If you have added a Task in error, you can simply delete it using the Action menu. Only Sample Tasks that are not in use in Sample Paths can be deleted. If the Task is in use in a Sample Path, you will need to archive it.

Archiving a Sample Task

To archive a Task, click the Action menu, then Edit. Check the “Archive” tickbox, provide a “Reason for Change” and click “Save”. This will disallow future use of the Task in Sample Paths.

You can unarchive a Task by opening it for editing and unticking the “Archive” box.
